I have not tried to see if wi-fi somehow magically returns after an extended time if it lasts more than several minutes I just reboot the phone (and of course, as the problem has consistently persisted, I don't generally wait any longer than it takes to confirm that wi-fi isn't working after turning off the hotspot). Specifically, even though wifi is on (the wifi icon in the notifications screen is bright green), and it claims to connect to my home wi-fi, and shows the wi-fi bars, no apps successfully access the internet (Chrome says "DNS PROBE FINISHED: NO INTERNET"). Whenever I enable the phone to be used as a mobile hotspot, at which point it of course disables wi-fi, then when I turn the hotspot back off, wi-fi services no longer work, and I can not restore them without rebooting the phone.
